And when I saw the application, I knew that her area had been hit really hard. Mary Montovano: on camera via Zoom To have a wind event like this on Boca Grande was just mind boggling. There was a storm chaser that spoke to us that was at our building the night of the storm. And he said that he clocked winds at 206. Mary Montovano: off camera, B-Roll shots of destroyed home It was hard for me to wrap my head around the the devastation. I mean, just to see our place. Completely gone. Kevin Hyde: on camera standing in destroyed house The roof, the walls. It was all gone. What a heart wrenching sight... ...it was. It was a challenge to look at her house. So this is my home on Bay Shore Drive across from the river. My most beautiful possession and all of my belongings were in this home. Furniture, memories, which were really important to me. I just put on a new roof. I had just paid off my mortgage and I had this beautiful tree that was 62 years old that was just really meaningful to me. And I've lost all that, everything that I thought was important to me. But I do have my life and I do have my family. And so that's that's how I'm going to get through this. The Florida Realtor Disaster Relief Fund was there from day one. I applied. I got some monetary funds. The realtor community came to my aid that they were here in my driveway. They were hugging me when I really couldn't take it anymore. They brought water and food to the people that were trying to pull my furniture out. They were my extended family. And that is why I'm a realtor, because I understand the word family, and that is what this business is all about. And the thing that hurt the most was when the shoes kind of floated by. That's what hit me. That said, you know, we're in trouble here. Well, if you look at my house, there's no walls, there's no floors, there's no furniture. We lost everything but two couches. B-Roll shots inside Cynthia’s destroyed home. Right now, the only thing in the house is two toilets. We lost baby pictures. We lost part of our life in that water. And in that storm, I had six inches of water in the house and 13 in the garage. And I felt guilty that, you know, I just felt there were people that were more needy. If you were thinking of not applying, don't the Florida Realtor Disaster Fund is there for you as a Realtor. And we are part of a realtor family. Cynthia Shafer: stands in front of her devastated home. If you look at my roof, four realtors came from Naples and put the tarps up. We all make a difference in this world. But that brought me to my knees. So please, please donate to the Florida Realtors Disaster Fund. And for those that have this damage, please apply. It was devastating and we lost everything. The water was over seven feet at our home. In the beginning, we couldn't get here. We didn't even know if our home was standing. So there was despair and hope. Liz Podolsky-Bellman: on camera surveying damage, inter cut with B-Roll shots of damage inside her destroyed home. And then when the first photos came out, the satellite images where we saw our house was still here. We actually had some hope. So then I said, Well, how do I work? Where do I live? Where are my animals going to live? So to have the Florida Realtors backing us and helping us just get through the expense of trying to remediate different things and do an inspection of our electrical panels so we can hopefully get power some day has really meant the world. And just having so many realtors reach out to me and see if I need anything. It's made me feel like we're not alone. If you're in a situation where you can contribute time or money, it would be the time to do it now because disasters are still coming. Everything was toppled over. Everything was disarray. It was just like somebody went in and shook my whole house and then threw mud everywhere. Like, well, everything we worked for hard is gone. I mean, you know. It's just gone. Our cars are gone. The house is gone. Everything is gone. My dogs are okay. My daughter is okay, so my husband's good. And so that's the important thing.
